Middle School-Age // Special Education Art Lesson
Oh, what a fun lesson for the fall season! Students loved creating their large scale pumpkins.
Using a step by step approach to drawing the pumpkins, we all worked together. Once students created their pumpkins they then added Kusama's famous polka dots! Coloring each section and then added the triangles to the outside surrounding.
They ALL came out beautiful!

Artist Focus: Kara Walker
Vocabulary: Silhouette
Medium: Collage
Special Education Art Lesson - Middle School-Age Students
Materials: magazines, glue, scissors, silhouette cutouts, black construction paper
*Note* Some of our students were able to trace silhouettes by using a flashlight and partnering up against the wall, then tracing their partners shadow with a pencil. This was difficult in many classes, so I drew many of them or had them trace on the table. Either way, you could create a male and female or various templates for your students to trace. See what works!
